The National Museum of American History gained its popularity because of hit movies by Ben Stiller. And watching this comedy, you sometimes wonder if the items on display in this museum really become alive at night. Of course, these are just silly ramblings; you should know that you don’t need them to come alive to be able to enjoy an adventure inside the museum.

The National Museum of American History is located in Washington, D.C., along the 14th Street and Constitution Avenue. It’s one of the most recognizable landmarks in Washington, and many individuals – tourists, students, adults – explore the museum as much as they can. It is located right beside the National Museum of Natural History, which is where most of the Ben Stiller movie focuses. In any case, the National Museum of American History is also a wonderful place to visit, with countless historical items to see.

Do not be misled by the term “museum”. This museum is more than just a building with old items that can be viewed. In fact, if you check their website, you will discover that there are interactive exhibits, which are actually perfect for kids, and for the young at heart. There are Smithsonian Tours, Ride Simulators, and Interactive Tours to really get you involved in your exploration.

The National Museum of American History aims to collect, preserve and exhibit American culture over the centuries - whether through political, social, cultural, scientific, and military history. There are different levels and vast wings to explore these aspects of American history. For each wing, a landmark is seen, depicting the era or major theme of the exhibitions on that particular area.

Outside the museum, there are sculptures to amaze and delight museum visitors. One of these sculptures is the Infinity – a 24-foot tall abstract sculpture.

If you are interested in visiting the National Museum of American History, you should know that it is open from 10 AM to 5 PM everyday, except on December 25. You can plan ahead and register for tours  so you don’t have to wander around aimlessly. Make sure to allot the whole day for your tour, as you would want to explore every nook and cranny of this impressive museum. Once you get to the museum, don’t forget to have fun. Treat it as one exploratory adventure. It is not often that you are faced with the history of the country, as symbolized by the original Star-Spangled Banner. If that doesn’t give you goosebumps, then I don’t know what will.
