Exploring Washington DC is a historic and educational journey that is not to be missed! While technically not part of any US state, it is the capital city of the United States of America and it holds all the national historic attractions you could imagine. Depending on the length of your stay, you will want to consider a wide range of entertainment options, there is truly something for everyone in DC!

Certainly there is no shortage of museums or monuments in Washington DC. The Smithsonian Museum complex is a good place to start with 19 total museums and 9 research facilities you can literally learn about anything and everything on the planet. You could spend an entire week’s vacation examining ancient fossils and historic works of art. It’s any history buff, art lovers, or science enthusiasts dream come true!

If you want to visit monuments and memorials to America’s both triumphant and turbulent past then look no further as the most iconic landmarks are right here in DC. Visit the Lincoln Memorial statue, Washington Monument, and memorials of the Vietnam or Korean Wars. You’ve no doubt seen these national treasures on TV and movie screens, now you can experience them in real life. You can book bus tours of the monuments in order to maximize your time!

If you like to stroll through historic old towns then visit Georgetown for casual shopping and dining on a quiet riverfront setting. You can also relax in one of the many national parks such as Great Falls Park located on 800 acres of land along the famous Potomac River. For entertainment you can catch a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

If you are traveling with Kids, why not take a day to spend at the National Zoo where giant pandas are always a hit with young and old alike! Children can also enjoy a breath taking carousel ride right out front of the Smithsonian Castle. Make sure to check out the monuments and the White House at night – they look spectacular all lit up against the night sky!
